Barcelona, Spain

Mark Twain says......

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do, so throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." Mmmmmm I think that quote is delicious!

Venice, Italy

I took this pic in Venice in Nov 06.
Venice is beautiful. I loved it!

The Travel Channel

Don't you just love Samantha Brown's European travels! What about that guy who eats anything and everything as he travels over the world?! Oh, and there is that good looking Anthony Bourdain who travels with "No Reservation". And he says he is "always hungry for more." And, of course, there is the wonderful Rick Steves, whose books I bought way back when traveling was cheaper and there was no euro and the franc in Paris was still very much affordable. Yep, I am addicted to the travel channel.

I love the way I travel, frugal, frugal, frugal....that's me. I GO to see, do and experience the way others live.

I started my adventures back in 1986 with KVIL. Remember Ron Chapman on KVIL...the first of January he would start offering great travel deals with the Sharon Carr travel agency in Dallas. One day my husband told me he heard about a deal to London for a week for around $500.00 (included air, lodging, transfers, tips, and a few meals!) He knew my dream was to see London. He was all for me going as long as I did not drag him across the big "pond". Of course I went (paid a little more for the single supplement). I got my first passport and tickets in about a month and the last of Feb. I was in London. I was totally in love with this city. (I fall in love with every place I visit).

That was the first of many, many trips. I traveled with KVIL/Sharon Carr tours for many years and then it dawned upon me that I could easily do this myself and not be on a tour.

Because I am adventurous and openminded I have been to some wonderful places. My friends cannot understand why I travel alone. (I used to travel with friends.) I tell them that when I travel I become selfish....that is my time and I have earned the money to travel by working hard. I don't want to be a travel guide and worry about everyone in the group having fun. Don't want to be a babysitter.

With my trusty passport and one small suitcase I am always ready for an adventure.

The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.

Itchy Feet

This time each year I have a yearning to cross the big pond and have a European adventure. Well, that is not completely true. I have a yearning to travel to Europe anytime I can!! I call my disease "Itchy Feet".

I love Dr. Seuss and Peter Pan. "Oh the Places you Will Go" and Peter Pan's "second star to the right...straight on 'til morning."

I posted a pic of me in Barcelona, Spain at the famous Gaudi church of Sagrada Familia which was started in 1883. Gaudi died in 1926. The church was not completed and is still uncompleted. Work is still going on at the site to this very day. It is wonderful. (I still have to learn how to place pictures on this blog)
